Up for Buy it Now or Best Offer (make an offer!), an original, vintage Faith Not Fear button / pin / pinback, c. 1973, made for the United Church of Christ Gay Caucus, by Dave Valentine, 556A Castro St. S.F. 94111. Measures approximately 1.25" diameter. Dave Valentine was the same person who designed/manufactured buttons for Harvey Milk, for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and other LGBTQ activists and events. This button is from the United Church of Christ or UCC Gay Caucus, which started in the early 1970s. Very progressive for its time, to acknowledge and unconditionally accept gay members! A rare find and an early piece of LGBTQ and religion history! This comes from the estate of an individual who was involved in the civil rights / social justice movements of the 1960s, 1970s, and beyond! He collected all kinds of political, presidential, local/state/national buttons, stickers, ephemera going back to Eisenhower. The original owner/collector frequently marked years, dates, and other information on the backs of items collected. If you'd like more information for the sake of provenance, please ask! Out of respect, I don't want to identify the individual on eBay! I have more posters and items from this estate which will be listed soon, if they are not already!
For conditions, please review photos closely using the magnifying tool or zoom in. They will give the best idea of overall condition. Faith Not Fear button / pin / pinback in used condition, with some minor age/use related wear and toning. Metal backing has crease, but this does not appear visible on front. eBay automatically collects state sales tax for some states, and other states will be added soon. Sales tax is not considered part of the negotiated / offer price, and unless agreed upon before purchase, I [seller] will not adjust cost to compensate, cover, or pay for sales tax. Thank you for your understanding.
