This early 20th century (pre-war) piece of folk art or mingei sculpture is a
low fired ceramic bisque finish doll
of a standing and waiting young Geisha Maiko - ‘Waiting by the bridge’.*
Beneath the layers of patina is a tightly wrapped Maiko wearing a
Kimono, Obi and an outer robe.
