Controls
The CircuPool RJ-30 PLUS (3rd-gen) Control Module is a medium-size die-cast aluminum and moulded-plastic box with a backlit alpha-numeric OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen and touch-sensitive keypad. It mounts on the wall (or nearby a post or support) by hanging the control box via a tool-free mounting system that easily attaches to a mounting bracket which has been secured on a wall or nearby support. The digital display screen shows the the chosen percentage chlorine output and power bar-graph. The keypad controls allow you to raise and lower the chlorine output, view the system menu, activate the SuperCL mode, activate the Winter Mode, or display the average salinity. The menu system will display the temperature, cell power diagnostics, current salinity, and additional settings.
Electrolytic
Cell
The CircuPool RJ-30 PLUS (3rd-gen) Electrolytic Cell is an inline clear housing which contains built-in titanium electrode plates and built-in power supply cord. The RJ salt cell has threaded connections on the inlet and outlet, which allow quick access for service or winter removal (if applicable). The threaded connections attach to 2" or 1.5" unions (both sizes included), which are glued to the existing return-line PVC plumbing. The clear cell makes it possible to see the chlorine generation and to more easily inspect the cell.
Parts
The CircuPool RJ-30 PLUS Series comes with its 2" an 1.5" threaded cell unions, Flow Switch, Vector Jet, mounting bracket plus hardware, and instruction manual.

Replaced Haywood system after friend's recommendation. Took maybe 15 minutes? Seems like a big improvement. Like the screen and the clear salt cell.

Installation of RJ 30
The RJ 30 I purchased is all it was advertised to be. The installation was simple and well instructed. Text support was helpful when asked about an electrical connection. As a homeowner and DIY the product installation was not at all intimidationg, just follow the instructions and when in doubt call tech support.

5 stars
As of this writing, the RJ30 Plus gets five stars. We fought with our maintenance guy weekly, because the pool NEVER looked good. We would pay him to come out, pay for all the chemicals, and all for nothing. After using this for about 5 months, my pool has looked like something from a postacard every day and the kids love it.

more powerful
Replaced my not so old Pentair without much work, and I can literally see the chlorine pouring out of the cell when it runs. Only took a day or two and the pool is back up and running.

Q & A
Q:
what is the difference between SJ & the RJ systems?
Asked by:
Bill
- 3/6/2017
A:
Great question. Beside the main differences in power and lifespan, here are a few of the things that set them apart once they are in your hands:
The SJ models are very simple, easy-to-use systems. They have status lights that verify the unit is working, tell you at what power level it is set, and whether you need to clean the cell or add salt to the pool. Because it is simple there is less to think about, it is particularly low maintenance (no acid is required to clean the cell), and it is also less expensive.
The RJ and RJ+ models are the flagship systems. They are more powerful and longer lasting. They have a digital screen and touch keypad, giving you more control and diagnostics. It displays the salinity level in real time, calculates the running average, displays the water temperature, and displays the electronic performance levels of the cell so you can see exactly how things are working. The power levels on the RJ models can be turned up and down in smaller increments. RJ models also synchronize more easily with variable-speed pumps if you plan to upgrade.
So the SJ gives you simplicity and a huge value, and the RJ gives you top of the line performance and control.

Q:
Does this unit run on 120 or 240 volts?
Asked by:
Rick
- 3/23/2017
A:
This unit can work on either voltage. Most pools utilize 220V, so the default setting for this salt chlorinator is 220V, however instructions show you how to change the input power setting to 110V if that is what you need. For this equipment, there is no advantage to either voltage, you just want to match what your pump is using.

Q:
how long should i run my pool pump daily with a salt pool ?
Asked by:
jim
- 8/9/2017
A:
Your pool pump run time doesn't necessarily need to change. In general you just want to run your pump long enough to get enough circulation through your existing pool filter, and when you size your salt chlorinator right it usually has plenty of sanitation power to work within that same run time. Just as a rule of thumb for any pool, people often run their pumps at least 1 hour for every 10 degrees of temperature outside.

Q:
If I did the calculation correct my pool 18,500 gals plus a 4X4 step area. Would it be better to go with 30,000 gal cell instead of pushing the 20,000 gal cell?
Asked by:
hammond
- 3/19/2017
A:
Good question. Oversizing is always recommended. The manufacturer size ratings are absolute maximums. You will get more for your money, have a better experience, and get less wear-and-tear on your equipment the bigger you go. Typically you want to choose a system that can handle 1.5 to 2 times your pool size, so this will probably be a good fit!

Joey (3/19/2017)
Q:
How long is the power cord on the cell?
Asked by:
Floyd
- 3/8/2017
A:
The cord that goes from the Electrolytic Cell to the Control Module is approximately 14 feet in length.
Answer provided by:
Jordan (3/8/2017)
Q:
Does the salt system start and stop via pump flow?
Asked by:
Frank Alamo
- 5/4/2017
A:
Yes, the system includes a flow switch which detects water flow from the pump. Additionally, most people hook their salt chlorinator up to the same circuit as their pump so they get turned on and off together.
