ANTIQUE JAPANESE DOLL SAMURAI WARRIOR FOOT SOLDIER BOY’S DAY FEST. EDO PERIOD

This is a very RARE, large fierce looking SAMURAI foot soldier/Banner bearer. As you can see from
the photos his face has a lot of small indented marks.(Chicken Pox) It looks like these are original and the maker
made them intentionally. Maybe to look like scars? Also he has original “bad” teeth.
His face has skin color tinted gofun ....which is fitting for a lower class samurai foot soldier.
He is in fairly good condition for his age, which we estimate to be ca 1850-60.
There are a few cracks in Gofun on the  top of his head, a hole in his trousers at one knee.
The stand and sword are NOT original to the doll, but are appropriate to the time period and were added by us.
There is a hole in the stand from a knot in the wood that has fallen out.
The stand measures 12” x 6 1/2” and 3” high. The doll is 11” tall without stand.
